My name is Heather Rylance. As your counselor I am here to help guide the way.
First, I work to establish a safe and comfortable environment. Once you are comfortable, we begin our journey into finding ways to help you reach your goals, This is typically done via a variety of therapeutic techniques ranging from but not limited to Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, etc.
My specialties include depression, anxiety, relationships, health concerns, and weight management. I received my Master of Science in Clinical Health Psychology from the University of Michigan – Dearborn. I have been working in private practice setting since January 2014.
When working with couples we often focus on ways to improve communication, problem solving, parenting, and navigating some of life unexpected difficulties. This is done utilizing multiple approaches, in particular those used by the Gottman Institute and Emotion Focused Therapy.
