Nancy Gorelick is a Licensed Professional and Nationally Certified Counselor. She graduated from Walden University with a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling, and has experience working with groups (all ages), families, couples, and individuals in therapy. She works a wide range of ages–from three years of age to elderly. She is also a member of the ACA (American Counseling Association), the Psi Chi National Honor Society, the MHHCA (Michigan Mental Health Counselors Association), and the NBCC (National Board Certified Counselors).
Nancy has been very active in pursuing continuing opportunities to enhance her knowledge and comfort in the latest’s treatments and techniques. Recent seminars include: Play Therapy (for young children and early adolescents), Habits of Healthy People, and Food, Mood and Cognition. The goal of her training has been to merge these updated scientific based techniques to help others more proficiently.
I utilize an eclectic approach with clients, implementing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Therapy, psychotherapy, and Person-Centered Therapies. All researched based techniques may be assisted in conjunction to help maximize the benefits of counseling.
I feel that I have found my passion practicing and assisting others in a professional setting with a nurturing and safe environment. I often work with individuals and families, on helping them achieve their own personal desired goals which may include depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, self –harming and suicidal ideation, I can also help with situational events such as marriage, divorce, or the passing of a loved one and grieving,
I assist clients by guiding them through difficulties in relationships, and helping them to obtain healthy, positive interpersonal relationships. Some other issues I assist families with are working on positive parenting skills, learning and implementing additional healthy and effective coping skills, and utilizing helpful and positive communication skills.”
