Sara Fellows is a licensed clinical counselor in the state of Michigan with over twenty-six years of counseling experience. She comes to us from Cleveland, Ohio, where she worked in a Christian counseling center for the last twelve years. She is recognized by Focus on the Family’s referral site. She has a Master’s degree in counseling from the University of Akron. She has worked in a variety of settings including community mental health centers and private practices. In addition to individual and marital counseling, she has done supervision and led groups for eating disorders, adult sexual abuse survivors and rape survivors (women and men), divorce recovery, and co-dependency.
She uses a cognitive behavioral approach, including motivational interviewing, imago therapy, solution-focused therapy, and family systems. Her belief is that counseling is about change and transformation, that a counselor leads from your goals, hopes, and strengths to achieve balance and growth. She describes herself as empathetic and caring, but also direct and challenging. She likes to help couples and family members resolve their differences, believing in strong, healthy relationships as a key to happiness.
Sara works with adults ages 18 and older. Being older, she likes to share her life’s learning and sometimes laughter with her clients. She works in many types of areas, including anxiety and depression, bi-polar disorder, impulse control and anger management, eating disorders, domestic violence and sexual abuse, marital and divorce issues, grief and loss, personality disorders, work related problems, and others.
