Jeannie Craig is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor who earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and Counseling Psychology as well as a Post Bachelor Certificate in Theory of Addictive Behavior from Capella University after studying human services as an undergraduate at Lake Superior State University. Jeannie has experience in a wide variety of mental health settings from inpatient substance abuse rehabs, to outpatient clinics, to partial hospitalization programs and specialized substance abuse treatment. She has worked with individuals facing attention deficit hyperactive disorder, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, codependency, and addiction.
Jeannie takes a strengths-based, person-centered approach to therapy. Her practice is guided by the belief that people are best when their whole person in balanced in mind, body and spirit. People are able to thrive when given a positive, safe and encouraging environment in which they can reflect on how to change and capable of generating solutions to their own problems. Jeannie is passionate about helping clients to explore in a new journey their individual talents, abilities, and resources to find balance in spite of crisis and healing by learning to dance in the rain instead of waiting for the storm to go by. She uses a combination of motivational interviewing (MI), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and other evidenced-based techniques to help clients achieve their desired outcomes. No matter the method of treatment, Jeannie is dedicated to providing a nonjudgmental counseling experience characterized by positive affirmations, genuine compassion, warmth, and empathy.
